Bridging Opportunities for Substance Use Screening and Treatment for Teens with Chronic Illness (BOSSTT)

Our team is currently seeking adolescents and caregivers of adolescents to participate in a research study group at Lurie Children’s Hospital.

The purpose of this study is to explore what teen patients, caregivers of teen patients, and Lurie Children’s staff (like doctors, nurses, and psychologists) think about an alcohol and drug use prevention program for teens with chronic medical conditions. In this study, we’ll meet once per month as a group to discuss your thoughts on this program and how it could work at Lurie Children’s Hospital. This study is for patients between ages 12-18 who have been hospitalized at Lurie Children’s for a chronic medical condition, or caregivers of patients who meet these criteria.

Participation includes one hour-long meeting per month for 12 months. Meetings will take place at Lurie Children’s Hospital. Participants can earn up to $300 for their time and contributions.

If you have any questions or would like additional details about this study, please email Sheridan Grettenberger at sgrettenberger@luriechildrens.org or Dr. Faith Summersett Williams at fswilliams@luriechildrens.org
