Our approach to health equity and health justice extends beyond documenting disparities. We seek to understand and change the systems, structures, and implementation processes that produce inequitable health outcomes.
We use the following methods in our work:
Health Equity–Centered Implementation Science
We examine how evidence-based practices can be implemented in ways that reduce disparities, improve access, and respond to the needs of communities that have historically been underserved.Community-Engaged Research and Partnership
We collaborate with youth, families, clinicians, schools, community organizations, and other partners throughout the research process so that our work reflects community priorities, experiences, and expertise.Human- and Liberatory-Centered Design Strategies
We use participatory design approaches to develop and adapt interventions with—not simply for—the people and communities who will ultimately use and experience them.Participatory Research Methods
We create meaningful opportunities for people with lived experience to shape research questions, intervention design, implementation strategies, interpretation of findings, and dissemination.Trauma-Informed and Healing-Centered Approaches
We consider how trauma, structural conditions, relationships, resilience, and community strengths influence health and engagement with healthcare and other systems.Structural and Social Determinants of Health Frameworks
We examine how policies, systems, institutions, neighborhoods, and social conditions shape health outcomes and opportunities for health.
