In early August, our intern Ashley Munkhbavar completed her summer internship with the I+HEAL team by presenting a poster at the Katz & Manne Research Institute Summer Scholar Program’s Symposium. Ashley’s poster covered insights from her work on the BOSSTT study, which included observing the workflows of the medical social work team at Lurie Children’s Hospital and reviewing electronic health records for insights on how behavioral health needs are screened in Lurie Children’s inpatient setting.

I+HEAL research intern, Isabella Zylka, presented a poster at the 18th Annual Lewis Landsberg Research Day in September of 2024. This poster focused on provider perspectives on the implementation of SBIRT in inpatient pediatric settings.

I+HEAL research intern, Sareena Shah, presented a poster at the 18th Annual Lewis Landsberg Research Day in September of 2024. This poster focused on the perspectives of public high school staff on the implementation of an evidence-based eating disorder prevention intervention program in their school settings.

Their poster will feature provider perspectives from their work on the PCYF study, which explores the implementation of two approaches to SBIRT in outpatient primary care settings at Lurie Children’s Hospital.

Racial Discrimination, Mental Health, and Substance Use Among Academically High-Achieving Black Adolescents
In October of 2024, current medical student Ren Mondesir presented a poster at the inaugural Health Equity Poster Session held by Northwestern University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Ren’s poster focused on racial discrimination, mental health, and substance use challenges experienced by academically high-achieving Black adolescents.

Behind the Scenes of Clinical Care: Exploring Why Workflows Matter for Behavioral Health Intervention Implementation
In April of 2025, I+HEAL team members Sarah Sauerteig and Kennedy Curtis presented a poster at Lurie Children’s Hospital’s Research Scholars Day. Their poster explored the workflow observations completed as part of the BOSSTT study, which included data on observing medical teams at Lurie Children’s Hospital to explore how behavioral health screenings are implemented in the inpatient setting.
